Summary:In the Ichidian Universe, The League and their ruthless assassins rule all. Expertly trained and highly valued, the League Assassins are the backbone of the government. But not even the League is immune to corruption . . . Command Assassin Nykyrian Quikiades once turned his back on the League—and has been hunted by them ever since. Though many have tried, none can kill him or stop him from completing his current mission: to protect Kiara Zamir, a woman whose father’s political alliance has made her a target. As her world becomes even deadlier, Kiara must entrust her life to the same kind of beast who once killed her mother and left her for dead. Old enemies and new threaten them both and the only way they can survive is to overcome their suspicions and learn to trust in the very ones who threaten them the most: each other.
My Review: This book was so different then what I thought it would be! I thought it was just a sci-fi sappy romance but it hit so many points! Abuse, discrimination, and the right to protect one's self. Plus the grittier world in the future is amazing. And you just fall in love with Nykyrian and you just want to cry when you really learn about him. The one thing I hated was Kiara. I would have loved him right away and wouldn't have gotten mad at him when he kills to protect me! But she does! Can we say Ungrateful? But other wise it was just sexy and cool I couldn't and didn't put it down!
Excerpt: I have a couple because this book was so good:
Brothers to the end, even through the fires of hell and beyond ~ pg. 5
You can't protect yourself. No matter how safe you think you are. No matter how much precaution you take, the rodents always find a way in... ~ pg. 16
"Wonder is she sleeps naked...bet she showers that way. Every day even. Think about it. I'll bet she's even naked underneath her clothes." ~ pg. 17
"Death is just a new beginning...at least in my religion. And extreme inebriation seriously helps." ~ pg. 114
"Baby, it's either laugh or cry and crying takes way to much energy. If you can't find humor in the shit life heaps on you, you really will grow miserable." ~ pg. 115-116
"Princess, in the end, life makes victims of us all." ~ 132
Cover/Title: I like the cover because at least I knew what his strong jaw looked like. :) And the title fits nicely ;)
